Conquering The Boyfriend Blues

The fairytale ended albeit without a “happily ever after” and now you are single and down in the dumps. Wondering how to get back up on your feet when you are so not over your ex? Don’t feel blue, here are some great tips to bring back your smile…

1) PARTY!!

See the break-up in a different light. You don’t need to give explanations everytime you talk to a male friend. You can finally spend quality time with your friends. You don’t need to look good 24X7! And did you realize how much money you will save now that you don’t have to buy little cute gifts for him? Put that money and time to good use. Party!

2) GO SHOPPING

The unbeatable way to beat away the blues! Re-do your wardrobe. Buy new clothes. Buy the new lipstick you’ve been wanting since the past three months. New shades, handbags, heels, whatever it takes to take your mind off him!

3) GET A MAKEOVER

So, you don’t feel too good about yourself now? Then change whatever you don’t like! A new hair-do might make you feel and look good. Or maybe a different style of make-up would suit you more. Looking good will make you feel better and more confident about yourself.

4) GIRL BRIGADE!

Get together with your female friends and chill out. Watch some movies, gossip, catch up on the latest news, have fun! You deserve a break. Not only will your friends cheer you up, they’ll tell you how they always knew your ex-boyfriend was a jerk (even if he was the coolest guy on the planet!). Friends rock!

5) THROW OUT THE TOKENS OF AFFECTION

Admit it to yourself, you cannot get over him if you can’t sleep without cuddling the little teddy he gave you or if you have pictures of him put up all over your room! Get rid of the cards, letters, trinkets, and whatever other things that remind you of him. The most important thing you need to do to move on is to TRY.

6) GET INVOLVED IN SOMETHING NEW

Nurture a hobby, join a cooking class, take guitar lessons, write… Look for new ways to keep yourself busy. As long as you have something taking up your time, you wont find your thoughts straying towards him.

7) GO ON A REBOUND

If all else fails, look for another boyfriend! Never mind if he isn’t the best there is, all you need is someone to help you get over this. This may sound really mean, but it really works!

Remember, only when you have truly gotten over your feelings for your ex-boyfriend can you expect to move on in life. Don’t waste precious time crying over what could have been. For every door that closes, another one opens. But usually people keep looking at the closed door for so long that they fail to notice the one that had opened for them…
